Product Info & Help
General information
The LOWTEC suspension kits include a approval, exceptions with the hints 148, GH and GHX.
If the vehicle type "Kombi/Station Wagon" resp. "4WD" resp. "Electric" resp. "GAS" is not explicit shown, the parts cannot be used for these versions.
If the vehicle has an electric damper adjusting or level control, it must be removed or decomissioned when exchanging the dampers.
LOWTEC and COMP sport damper don´t need a approval in Germany. Maybe in other countries there are other regulations.
Definition of vehicle and product
Within the specified axle loads the lowering of the vehicle can be reached most thoroughly by using the details at "Model" (are related to vehicle tare weight). When overlap in the vehicle models (depending on equipment) the permitted axle load shall decisive. For heavy models (with automatic transmisson, etc.) if necessary, choose the next higher axle load. If a vehicle type is not listed, apply generally the given front axle loads (if necessary, please consult us).
Decisive for the compliant vehicle classification are the permitted axle loads in the approval.
Lowering
The lowering specification in mm are approx. measures, that can vary upwards or downwards depending on age and equipment of the vehicle (motorisation, gearing, trailer coupling ...). Particularly for articles with one of the notes 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27, you should pay close attention to this and, if necessary, choose an alternative lowering rate.
This measures relate to new vehicles with original standard suspension. Vehicles with original sport suspension get less lowering.
For coilovers, the approximate lowering of the optimal minimum or maximum value is given and includes all vehicles of the type class. This means that deviations are possible between the relevant vehicle types. E.g.: The lowering specification 0-60 mm can mean 0-50 mm for one vehicle variant and 10-60 mm for another.
Extrem lowering
From about 50 mm lowering or for vehicles with small residual spring travel generally sport shock absorbers (LOWTEC SPORT / COMP) are recommended (avoidance of snap-through buckling of the damper, better adjustment, etc.). If necessary, bump stops are to modulate or to complement with the fitting rubber bump stops to ensure the function of the shock absorbers and the corresponding lowering / spring travel. Partly also further mounting procedures are required. Basically pay attention to clearance of the wheels and to the bottom in accordance to the legal standard. The ride comfort sometimes is considerably restricted.
Please note our information regarding the lowering information for the MegaLOW coilovers.
HiLOW coilover suspension kits
The types with of STREET damper & spring force are by far the most popular. You can also choose between the more comfortable DYNAMIC and the stronger RACE versions (pls. see: Suspension Hardness in Comparison).
Please check, if spacers are required or possible because of the enlarged diameter of the strut (ca. 15 mm space additionally required, vehicle dependent).
The HiLOW kit includes one pin wrench and one hook wrench, the kits HiLOW 3 and HiLOW 4 are additional including a protection spray.
All types with threaded coils front and rear (execptions pls. see the notes).

| Zyl | cylinder |
Bump stops
The height of the bump stop gives the corresponding stroke limitation of the shock absorber. Thus, the immersion of the vehicle is limited. The tire-body contact can be prevented. Intact original damping elements (where necessary shortened to the extent of the lowering) or rubber bump stops are basically required for each shock absorber.
Cylindrical form
The cylindrical rubbers are put on the piston rod. Depending on the quantity and height, different spring travel limitations result.
PUR
These PUR bump stops are to be used instead of the original limiters and are put on the piston rod.
The HiLOW Coilover suspension kits are using them aswell.

Suspension hardness in comparison
Here is an overview of different suspension adjustments, based on various configurations in an average car:
| Type of suspension | spring | damper |
|---|---|---|
| Original suspension | 20 N/mm | 70 N/mm |
| Sport suspension kit | 30 N/mm | 110 N/mm |
| Coilover DYNAMIC | 40 N/mm | 130 N/mm |
| Coilover STREET | 50 N/mm | 160 N/mm |
| Coilover RACE | 60 N/mm | 190 N/mm |
| Coilover MOTORSPORT | more than 80 N/mm | more than 200 N/mm |
For light or heavy vehicles different values apply.
